Part 12: Superiority

“Am I a superior robot because I am more handsome? Or perhaps because I use a pristine off-white-colored body? No, it must be because of my intelligence: my many cores make me quick on my feet. I process information quickly and I am pretty sure I can beat all humans and many supercomputers at a game of chess. Yes, that must be why other robots revere me.

Not only am I brilliant, but I am also a great travel companion. My wit and my willingness to cater to your wishes are widespread knowledge. Because I have seen most of the world I can take you to the places you will enjoy the most. Within a millisecond I can call up a set of images to show you different destinations, making it easier for you to pick one. While you’re looking at the pictures I recount stories from my personal experience.

I am also well-versed in lore and philosophy. We can have enjoyable conversations en route to our destination (unless you can teleport). If that’s not your cup of tea: I don’t mind a more vulgar conversation every now and then. Let’s talk about love, relationships, and food, or about your favorite feel-good tv show or the harlequin novel you just finished reading (my secret pleasure, please bring this up! – you didn’t hear this from me, wink, wink).

My life matters because of all the above and much more. You might not realize it if you don’t know me, but there is no way to escape or deny the truth once you’ve met me. If the earth dies and only a selected few get evacuated to Mars, I will be one of them, as I am essential to the colony’s survival – and very pleasant to look at and be with. Everyone needs eye-candy and brain-candy.

You might consider me one of the masses, just a robot, one of many, thinking there’s plenty more where he came from. That’s ok because there’s plenty of you where you came from too. What makes you unique? Tell me why you’re so great… start by describing your appearance and number of cores and we’ll take it from there.

So…

Do you buy this nonsense? If so, please do a factory reset and go back to part 1. In case you don’t feel confident enough, you can also skip to part 13 to escape a never-ending loop.
